Wizards Recognize Virginia Ali with a Bobblehead
As part of the Wizards’ 2023-24 “For The District” campaign, which recognizes and honors those who have made an impact and brought pride to the District, the team honored Virginia Ali with her very own bobblehead.
On December 14th, Wizards guard Jordan Poole presented Virginia with her bobblehead during her 90th birthday celebration at the Lincoln Theatre. Behind-the-scenes footage from the presentation can be found here.
We hope you can join us when the Detroit Pistons come to Capital One Arena on Monday, Jan. 15, for an MLK Day matinee; fans in attendance will take home a bobblehead of D.C.’s Virginia Ali. A civil rights activist, Virginia co-founded the famous U Street institution, Ben's Chili Bowl. The bobblehead will feature Ben’s Chili Bowl’s iconic red and yellow signage and showcase Virginia serving Ben’s Original Half Smoke. The bobblehead's base will display the “Welcome to Washington, D.C.” highway sign. The bobblehead will be given while supplies last, so come early!
To acknowledge and celebrate Virginia’s achievements and lasting impact on the District, the Wizards will donate $10,000 to the Ben's Chili Bowl Foundation.
